One of the most well-known and widely dispersed illegal motorcycle gangs in America is the Pagans. The group was established in the late 1950s, around ten years before the concept of outlaw motorcyclists started to gain traction.

The Hells Angels (also on this list) and the Pagans have a well-known rivalry, with the former being especially well-established on the American East Coast. One of the world's "Big Four" biker gangs, the Pagans are fierce defenders of their territory.
