Stopping Static Cling in Clothing Static cling causes clothes to stick uncomfortably. There are simple ways to prevent this problem. Before wearing, run a metal hanger along the fabric to discharge static electricity. Attaching a clothespin inside the garment or using a thimble to rub the fabric also helps eliminate static and keeps clothes comfortable.
